Our New Noles webpage is designed to be your one-stop-shop for key information to help you gain understanding, explore your new campus, and get answers to important questions before, during, and after you have begun your FSU experience.
Orientation 2026
New Nole Orientation for FSU Panama City is held in person on campus. Select your New Nole Orientation session and reserve your space with online payment by logging into your myFSU account using your permanent FSUID. For questions, please contact orientation@pc.fsu.edu or (850) 770-2170.

Orientation for Distance Learning Students
Distance Learning students do not register or attend the on-campus orientation. All admitted distance learning students should visit the Distance Learning Orientation webpage for orientation information. There you will find the link for the online Canvas Student Orientation Course. Be sure to submit the acknowledgement form at the bottom of the web page after completing the orientation course.
Prior to Orientation
Prior to attending Orientation, there are a few tasks to complete that will help you have a positive experience.
Activate your FSUID
You may activate your FSUID and set up your profile as soon as you have been admitted to Florida State University by visiting the FSUID Management page. Click “Activate Your FSUID/Set Security Questions” to begin the process. Be sure to have your EMPLID information sent to you by email during the registration process for admission.
Much of the business students will conduct with the University will be done through myFSU. Once logged onto the myFSU portal, you will be able to easily access myFSU Student Central (for student accounts and course search/enrollment), your @FSU.EDU email account (where FSU will communicate with you regularly – check this often), and Canvas (academic course management information).
You will not have access to course enrollment as an undergraduate student until you have successfully completed Orientation, but it is great to get familiar with the resources available to you in the myFSU portal now.
Register for Orientation
Select your session and reserve your space with online payment by logging into your myFSU account using your FSUID. You will see a prompt on your screen: “Have you registered for New Student Orientation? To register or update your reservation CLICK HERE.” Click on the link in the myFSU portal and complete your orientation reservation. Please keep in mind that your space will not be saved until payment is received. The orientation fee for FSU Panama City is $35. NOTE: All online orientation payments must be made through the orientation registration system, which can be accessed through the myFSU portal.

Complete health history/immunization information
As an incoming student, you are required to complete the Student Immunization Record and return them to the Department of Student Affairs before you will have access to course registration. For more information, review the Florida State University Health Requirements.
After submitting the Student Immunization Record, you may call the Department of Student Affairs at (850) 770-2170 to confirm your records are complete and clearance has been granted. Bring a back-up copy of this paperwork with you to Orientation.
Review your admissions portal
Log onto the Admissions Status Check to review your application/admission decision status, confirm your Florida residency status for tuition rate purposes, confirm that you are coded for the correct academic major, and more! You should check your online status once a week to see what has changed or is outstanding.
Apply for financial aid and Bright Futures
Apply for financial aid as early as possible each year. You can apply as early as January 1 using estimated income and tax return information.
If eligible, apply for Bright Futures while still in high school and notify Bright Futures which university you are attending.
Academic Advising at Orientation
Review the Academics section of our website. Be sure to identify CoreFSU requirements you may need and review the major of your choice for other requirements you should consider.
If you are a first-year or transferring sophomore student, bring all information you have about possible college credit including, but not limited to, AP, IB, AICE, CLEP, Dual Enrollment, and transfer credit.
If you are a junior or senior transfer student, contact our Academic Advising & Student Success Center at (850) 770-2288 or advising@pc.fsu.edu regarding your transferring course credits so that we may better prepare a course schedule with you prior to Orientation.
Research area housing
If you do not currently live in the Panama City area, we encourage you to making housing arrangements as early as possible. An important resource that might be helpful to you is the Local Apartments Guide.
Know your rights and responsibilities
Higher education is one of society’s freest of institutions. The community standard at Florida State University, which guides conduct and influences policy, is called Responsible Freedom. Student Disability Services and Academic Accommodations
If you are a student with a documented disability, we encourage you to begin the registration process with our Student Disability Services as soon as possible. Once registered, students are able to self-determine when and what accommodations they would like to utilize during the semester for each class. It is better to register for services and not need them than to need accommodations and not have time to complete the process.

*Please note: Orientation programming does continue regardless of rain. It is important to attend Orientation prepared for rain and walking, as some sessions are in different buildings. Additionally, some of the meeting spaces can be chilly, so please bring a light jacket with you for your comfort.

Orientation Registration
Why is orientation required?
Orientation is required in order to provide all new students with information about being a successful college student at Florida State University Panama City.
I am a transfer student that has already attended an orientation session, why do I have to attend FSU's orientation?
When you become a new full-time degree-seeking undergraduate student at any public institution in the State of Florida, you are required to attend that institution’s orientation program.
What is the deadline for registering for orientation?
While registration for Orientation closes one week prior to the session, at 4 P.M. CT, we encourage you to register early.
How do I pay for orientation?
All online orientation payments must be made through the orientation registration system, which can be accessed through the myFSU portal.
How is my orientation fee used?
Florida State University’s Orientation program does not receive state dollars and is wholly supported by the orientation fees collected.
After I have registered for orientation, can I change my session date?
Yes! Once you have registered for Orientation, you may change the date of your session by logging back into the orientation registration system through the myFSU portal.
How can I add a guest to my orientation reservation?
Once you have completed your online orientation reservation, you can add a guest(s) to your reservation up to three days before your session by logging back into the orientation reservation system through the myFSU Portal.
If my family member registers and decides not to attend orientation, what do I do?
We understand that plans change. Email studentaffairs@pc.fsu.edu to let us know.
How do I request an accommodation for myself or a guest during orientation?
If assistance is needed during Orientation, an accommodations request can be submitted through the online orientation registration system or by contacting the Department of Student Affairs at (850) 770-2171 or studentaffairs@pc.fsu.edu.
If I register for orientation and decide to cancel my admission to FSU Panama City, can I get a refund?
All orientation fees are non-refundable. If you decided not to attend FSU, it is your responsibility to notify the Office of Admissions at (850) 770-2311 or admissions@pc.fsu.edu.
Attending Orientation
What should I wear?
Dress is casual. We will be indoors and outdoors and there is some walking built into the program. Bring an umbrella and rain jacket.
What should I bring with me to orientation?
- Government Issued ID so that you can get your FSUCard if you have not already done so

- Umbrella and/or rain jacket*
- Bag for orientation materials
- Backup copies of transcripts, test scores, immunization records, and other documents as needed
How long is the orientation program? When is orientation check-in?
Orientation is four and 1/2 hours in length and check-in begins 30-minutes prior to the start of the session.
I am registered for orientation, do I have to be present at orientation check-in?
Yes. It is important that you arrive for Orientation check-in on time. Students must check-in for themselves.
What business will I take care of at orientation?
You will meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, get your FSUID Card and parking pass, and learn about a variety of on-campus resources.
Am I required to attend all programs and presentations during my session?
Yes. You must attend all of the programs presented at your Orientation session.
When can I get my FSUCard (student identification card)?
The FSUCard may be obtained any time after you have been accepted, including during Orientation.
Do I need to have a parking pass for orientation?
No. Students and family members may park in any unreserved parking space on the FSU Panama City campus during orientation.
When can I get my campus parking pass?
You can register for your parking pass any time after you have been accepted, including during Orientation.
Is housing/lodging provided during orientation?
No, however there are a number of hotels and vacation rentals throughout the Panama City area.
Academics
Will I receive academic advising during orientation?
Your academic advisor will reach out to you before orientation to review your academic record and recommend courses for registration.
Will I learn how to register for classes?
Yes. We will teach you how to use all of FSU’s academic resources and tools, including course enrollment.
Can I register for courses if my immunization form has not been turned in?
No. The Student Immunization Record is strictly enforced by the University.
What if I want to change my major?
Students who wish to change their major should set an appointment with their academic advisor.
Family Members
If I am not sure that I can attend orientation with my student, should I pre-register?
If you choose not to pre-register with your student and then are able to attend, your student can add you to the orientation reservation through the myFSU portal.
Is there a fee for family members to attend orientation?
No. While there is a fee for students to attend Orientation, there is not a fee for family members.
Is housing/lodging provided during orientation?
No. However, there are a number of hotels and vacation rentals throughout the area.
Will I be with my student throughout orientation?
We realize the importance of family in the college process and have designed a program that will provide you with maximum information.
Is there walking involved in the orientation program?
Yes. Florida State University Panama City is a walking campus and Orientation requires participants to walk during portions of the program.
How do I request an accommodation for myself during orientation?
If assistance is needed during Orientation, an accommodations request can be submitted through the online orientation registration system.
Are children allowed/encouraged to attend orientation?
Yes, but this is a personal decision for your family.
Will my student leave orientation having registered for their classes?
Yes. Students receive academic advising and register for classes during their Orientation session.
I have questions about financial aid; will I be able to get answers during orientation?
Yes. Our financial aid office will be present at Orientation. You can also begin gathering information now by visiting our Financial Aid webpage.
How will I know how much my student was awarded for financial aid or how much they owe for tuition and other fees?
After the Office of Financial Aid rewards aid, the information will be available to your student on the myFSU portal.
After Orientation
What do I do now that I have attended orientation?
Make sure you visit the Post-Orientation section of our website and remember to submit any final transcripts.
Can I access my class schedule at any time?
Yes. You can access your course schedule at any time by visiting Student Central through the myFSU portal.
If I started at Florida State University in the summer semester, am I required to attend another orientation for fall semester?
No. Each student is only required to attend Orientation at FSU once.
FSU ID Card
Your FSUCard is your access to all things Florida State University Panama City! Reserve and borrow texts from the library and print on campus computers. Plus, your FSUCard will get students special access to shared facilities and events at Gulf Coast State College as part of the Seminole-Commodore Alliance including recreation, organizations, library texts, and more!
All students, faculty, and staff are provided with a FSUCard upon enrollment or initial start date. Replacement FSUCards for lost, damaged, stolen, or otherwise will incur a fee. Cards are distributed in the Department of Student Affairs, Barron 210.
Terms and Conditions
When signing the FSUCard Agreement, you agree that:
- You certify the information you provide is correct and accept the terms and conditions of the agreement.
- You understand there is a fee for any replacement FSUCard.
- You understand there is an annual FSUCard fee as allowed by 1009.24.13.c, Florida Statute and authorized by the FSU Board of Trustees.
- You understand that the Board of Trustees has authorized an inactivity fee for FSUCash if you do not use your FSUCash account for twelve (12) consecutive months.
- You understand your FSUCard will expire five (5) years from the date you sign the Agreement.
- You understand that by lending your FSUCard to another party is in violation of the Student Conduct Code.
- You acknowledge that in the case of an emergency, without your consent, the information contained in this agreement may be released.
- The Federal Privacy Act of 1974 Allows colleges and universities to require the disclosure of Social Security numbers for identification purposes. The University does not use your Social Security number for student identification.

Welcome to FSU Panama City. We know that transportation is important for our students. You may obtain parking permits in the Barron building, room 210.
