With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting face-to-face interactions, the FSU Panama City STEM Institute is going virtual with an interactive STEM Camp this summer. Local high-school students engage in the Nuclear Science and Medicine camp to be held from 9-3, July 13-16, online.
Made possible through funding from the National Nuclear Security Administration, the camp’s curriculum is the creation of FSU Physics Professor, Dr. Paul Cottle, and Bay District Schools teachers, Denise Newsome and Paige Johnston.

Florida State University honored its newest graduates during a virtual commencement ceremony Saturday, May 2, on the FSU website fsu.edu/commencement. FSU President John Thrasher presided.

FSU Panama City is re-establishing the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund to offer one-time financial assistance to students in need because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As the world is taking unprecedented steps to ‘flatten the curve’ in the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain focused on the FSU PC Promise,” Dean Randy Hanna said. “Through the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund, we can tear down some of the financial obstacles that might hinder student success.”

FSU Panama City is partnering with the Bay County Health Department to offer free flu shots to students, faculty and staff 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10, in Holley Lecture Hall A.

The most recent graduates from the nurse anesthesia master’s program all passed their National Certification Examination (NCE) to become certified registered nurse anesthetists within 60 days of graduation. This is the second consecutive year graduates from the program have had a 100 percent pass rate.

FSU Panama City is excited to team up with Explore Northwest Florida to host the Northwest Florida Ecotourism Summit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at FSU Panama City’s Holley Academic Center. Through breakout sessions and keynote lecture by Visit Florida CEO Dana Young, the summit aims to promote best business practices to promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly ecotourism industry in Northwest Florida.

FSU Panama City recognized six outstanding alumni as Notable 'Noles during a reception Jan. 28 for their continued commitment to education as part of a 20-year campus Homecoming tradition.

A group of local 30-A residents is working with FSU Tallahassee and Panama City to establish an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on 30-A tailored to lifelong learners. A community introduction meeting will be 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Watercolor Inn.
