Data Science PhD Graduate Colloquium
The FSU PC Online Computer Club invites you to a Zoom event, 8:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. CT), Thursday, May 7 with guest speaker Monica Tlachac. Tlachac, a doctoral candidate in data science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, will be presenting her research in health informatics.
"Using AI to screen for depression requires the collection, organization, storage, and analysis of data." said Karen Works, PhD and advisor to the club. "This colloquium touches on the fields of psychology, computer science, social work, healthcare and for those interested in the use of AI in identifying depression."
This is an opportunity to learn how science is utilizing machine learning for depression sensing from social media and Smartphone data to replace the commonly used forms to screen for depression. Specifically, Tlachac's work leverages text messages and tweets over a year to predict scores from the patient health questionnaire-9 that is commonly used to predict depression.
This event is free and open to the public. Please contact the Online Computer Club advisor, Dr. Karen Works, keworks@fsu.edu, for Zoom details and to rsvp.
