With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting face-to-face interactions, the FSU Panama City STEM Institute is going virtual with an interactive STEM Camp this summer. Local high-school students engage in the Nuclear Science and Medicine camp to be held from 9-3, July 13-16, online.
Made possible through funding from the National Nuclear Security Administration, the camp’s curriculum is the creation of FSU Physics Professor, Dr. Paul Cottle, and Bay District Schools teachers, Denise Newsome and Paige Johnston.
Florida State University Panama City is pleased to announce Gerard Hogan, DNSc, CRNA, ARNP-BC, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel who specializes in translational research, has joined the resident faculty of the master’s Nurse Anesthesia program within FSU’s College of Applied Studies.

Members of Project Runway, FSU Panama City’s sewing club, are taking on a new skill to help during the coronavirus pandemic. Using sewing machines donated by Jim's Sewing Store, club members and advisor Milinda Stephenson are learning to make masks to donate to area assisted-living facilities.
FSU Panama City is re-establishing the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund to offer one-time financial assistance to students in need because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As the world is taking unprecedented steps to ‘flatten the curve’ in the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain focused on the FSU PC Promise,” Dean Randy Hanna said. “Through the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund, we can tear down some of the financial obstacles that might hinder student success.”

The most recent graduates from the nurse anesthesia master’s program all passed their National Certification Examination (NCE) to become certified registered nurse anesthetists within 60 days of graduation. This is the second consecutive year graduates from the program have had a 100 percent pass rate.
