The student self-recorded all instances of the target behavior and hypothesized the behavior to be automatically reinforced. Intervention consisted of having the student engage in the alternative behavior of playing with putty. The results found that the putty served as an effective alternative behavior to fingernail and skin picking, evidenced by a decrease in fingernail and skin picking.' additional_research_mentor: '' annual_description: '5th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, April 17, 2025' co_presenters: '' first_name: Reagan i_will_be_printing_my_poster: '0' keywords: 'Self-Management, Differential Reinforcement, Skin Picking' last_name: Hodges major: 'Psychology ABA - MS' poster_pdf: '72916' poster_session_number: '' poster_thumbnail: '' presentation_modality: 'Face to Face Poster session' pronouns: '' research_mentor: 'Leah Koehler, Ph.D., BCBA-D' research_mentor_s_college: 'Florida State University' research_mentor_s_department: 'Applied Behavior Analysis' research_mentor_s_email: lkoehler@fsu.edu student_bio: 'Reagan Hodges has been a Registered Behavior Technician since July of 2024.
