All Florida State University Panama City students, staff and faculty are invited to the First-Year Student Convocation ceremony held on the Sunday before the start of fall semester on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. CST in the Russell P. and Mamie V. Holley Academic Center's St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall.
All newly admitted first-year students are required to attend Convocation (business casual attire is requested), which marks their entrance into the life and traditions of Florida State University Panama City. Family members and friends are also invited to attend. At Convocation, the dean, associate deans, faculty, staff, members of student government and student organizations will welcome new students. The ceremony celebrates the history of Florida State University Panama City’s academic community and calls upon students to make a commitment to live by the values embodied in the torches on the University seal: Vires, Artes, Mores (strength, skill, character).
Immediately following Convocation, students and their guests are invited to join the deans, faculty, staff, and students for a reception. This is an opportunity to meet new classmates and interact with FSU Panama City’s deans and administrators in a fun and dynamic atmosphere as you become a Seminole of Florida State University Panama City.
