Earn INCOSE certification through one grad course
A cohort of 60 students from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center earned their INCOSE certification from FSU Panama City during the Summer B semester. The course provides a new benefit for engineers wanting career-boosting certifications and advanced degrees.
“STEM and non-STEM backgrounds are welcome,” said Danny Georgiadis, Ph.D., director of Systems Engineering in the Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Department for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. “Pass this single course and earn INCOSE Systems Engineering professional certification, bypassing the difficult knowledge exam.”
INCOSE is the International Council on Systems Engineering, the largest professional association for the global systems engineering community, promoting international collaboration and knowledge sharing. The organization announced in 2024 that courses required for the joint college’s MSSE degree were recognized as equivalent to the certification knowledge exam for Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) and Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
The online course, ESI 5510, is Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, and prospective students can apply as non-degree seeking students, starting at any semester. International students are also welcome to apply. Those who apply by Aug.1 can begin in the fall semester. The course is also invaluable for graduate students, Georgiadis noted.
“It has proven to be a great tech elective for graduate students across the College of Engineering over the last eight years, and we want all our grad students to benefit from this certification,” he said.
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Master of Systems Engineering program is the fastest-growing graduate program in the history of the college and part of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering graduate degree program offerings. The program is administered out of FSU Panama City and led by Georgiadis and David Gross, Ph.D.
