In a partnership with the Florida State University Panama City STEM Institute, The Collegiate School at FSU PC is hosting its second Summer Institute in June and July, a series of day camps for students who have completed grades 7-8.

A student in the CSI camp prepares to lift evidence from the trunk of a car.

Camps will focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), including crime scene investigation, acting, flight technology and art. Register online at TCS.FSU.edu. Campers will bring their own lunches.

CSI-TCS UNIT: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 9-12 and July 7-10; $140 per person. Students will use science, technology and new STEM skills in a murder mystery role-play by taking on the role of a suspect who attends a culminating party where the guilty party will be revealed. Includes a certification in WordPress.

CREATIVE FUSION: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 9-10, 16-17 and 23-24, and July 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22, with artist Brianna Bennett; $70 per person per camp. This arts camp designed for grades 6-10 explores painting, drawing, mixed media and more. Each session offers fresh projects, fun challenges and opportunities to grow as an artist.

ACTOR’S WORKSHOP: 10 a.m. to noon on June 10, is free for students. Learn acting techniques, master script reading, learn warm-up exercises and more.

THE SCIENCE OF FLIGHT: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 16-19 and July 14-17; $140 per person. Investigate and model historic inventions and modern designs for air travel. Learn about Bernoulli’s Principle, study current attempts at space flight, and design and launch rockets. Includes a certification in WordPress.

“We hope students will take advantage of these exciting camps since each of them explores career options and pathways available at The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City,” said Jenna Edwards, administrative specialist with TCS.
Recently concluding its second year, The Collegiate School is FSU Panama City’s laboratory high school located at 2430 St. Andrews Blvd. Last year, TCS was recognized as an “A” school by the state Department of Education and was named a Purple Star school for its commitment to children from military families.

This fall, TCS will grow to serve grades 9-11, including an expansion into dedicated classroom space on the FSU Panama City campus, 4750 Collegiate Drive. For more information, visit TCS.FSU.edu or email TCS@fsu.edu.
