FTCE General Knowledge Exam (GK Exam)

The FTCE General Knowledge Exam (GK Exam) is a state-mandated entrance exam for all Educator Preparation programs in the State of Florida. No student may be admitted to an Educator Preparation program without official passing scores on all four sections of the GK Exam. 

IMPORTANT: The deadline to submit official passing GK Exam scores is July 1. However, students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to report official passing GK Exam scores by the application deadline

When should I take the FTCE General Knowledge Exam? 

As soon as possible. Applicants are advised to take the FTCE General Knowledge Test at least one semester prior to applying to Elementary Education at FSU.

When are passing FTCE General Knowledge scores due to FSU?

Passing scores must be submitted to FSU by July 1 for Fall admissions and November 1 for Spring admissions.

Gulf Coast State College, Northwest Florida State College (Niceville), Pensacola, Dothan, Tallahassee. Seating is limited and students are advised to look for test dates at multiple locations nearby. 

How often can I retake the FTCE General Knowledge Exam if I don't pass all sections on my first attempt?

Candidates can retake sections of the FTCE GK every 30 days.
