Abstract

This case study features an analysis and data-based instructional plan to address the literacy skills of a fourth-grade English Language Learner (ELL). The plan is based on several assessments to determine the student's needs. With explicit, systematic instruction in the four main components of reading, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing, the plan uses strategies such as visual aids, interactive activities, and scaffolding to help the student build language skills necessary for performing on grade level.
