Garnet Key Honor Society was formed at an organizational meeting on September 26, 1986, as a branch of Golden Key on the Tallahassee campus to recognize students for their outstanding spirit, leadership, service, scholarship, and to promote those activities which foster the progress and spirit of FSU Panama City campus. The first 50 member were inducted on December 15, 1986. Garnet Key Honor Society is the oldest and most prestigious leadership honorary on campus dating back to the Florida State College for Women. Garnet Key members exemplify the utmost character, active community involvement, and high academic standards.
- The primary focus of Garnet Key is to recognize students for their academic and leadership accomplishments. Graduate and undergraduate students with a 3.5 GPA are inducted in the fall and spring semesters. Garnet Key has established awards to recognize the undergraduate and graduate students who have the highest grade point averages.
- Garnet Key is committed to inducting members and connecting with the student body in order to promote high academic achievement.
