FSU Panama City to host Willie Spears, author of ‘We Should Fail More’

Florida State University Panama City will host a special presentation in September from Willie Spears, a motivational speaker and author of the new book, “We Should Fail More.”

“Have you failed? Great! Join the club,” Spears said. “This book highlights the failures of successful people in an effort to remind us that failure is the key ingredient in the recipe for success. Therefore, we should fail more.”

The Willie Spears Experience will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall, 4750 Collegiate Drive. Admission is free and the first 200 people in attendance will receive a free copy of his book. 

Spears is a nationally recognized author and speaker known for his energetic delivery, relatable communication style, and ability to connect with a wide range of audiences. He spent 20 years in education as an administrator, teacher and coach—years that gave him firsthand experience with leadership, communication, team culture and the everyday challenges we all face. He is also the author of “Inspired,” “Fathers Matter,” and several other books.

A Panama City native, Spears has been the head football coach at Escambia High School in Pensacola, and Suwannee High School in Live Oak. He was named Coach of the Year while serving in that capacity at Jefferson Middle School in Monticello. In 2008, he was honored by Northwestern Oklahoma State University with the Alumni Foundation Outstanding Graduate Award in the area of Education.
