Dr. Travis Hand is a molecular biophysicist whose work has focused on protein production, purification, and biotechnology. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from Florida State University and his B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at Tyler. Before joining the faculty at FSU Panama City, he worked as a research scientist for the U.S. Navy, where he helped develop and scale up methods for producing recombinant hagfish thread proteins.

Dr. Hand teaches courses in general biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. His teaching emphasizes scientific reasoning, the connection between molecular mechanisms and biological outcomes, and the practical application of scientific concepts. He aims to help students develop a clear understanding of biology while also learning how scientists ask questions, evaluate evidence, and draw well-supported conclusions.
