Dr. Erika Goines earned her EdD in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from the University of West Florida, where her research examined the influence of content filtering and teacher self-efficacy on internet use in K-12 classrooms. She also holds an EdS in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from UWF, an MA in Digital Journalism and Design from the University of South Florida, and an MS in Corporate and Public Communication from Florida State University, where she recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management. With a passion for teaching, Dr. Goines brings over a decade of higher education experience, specializing in digital media, web design, and communication strategies. She has taught various courses at Gulf Coast State College, including Visual Storytelling, Digital Optimization and Analytics, and Digital Capstone, while serving as Program Coordinator for the AS and BAS Digital Media Programs.
Dr. Goines’ research interests focus on media technology, digital media strategies, and audience engagement. A recipient of the Robert E. Tinney Professor of the Year and Frank W. Eiseman Outstanding Academic Advisor awards, she has presented at national conferences and contributed to FEMA disaster response missions as a certified data analyst. Committed to student success, she encourages students to develop their technical skills and creativity while preparing them to navigate the evolving digital landscape. Dr. Goines is excited to join the faculty at Florida State University, where she hopes to inspire students to achieve their full potential in the field of digital media.
