As a veteran (or military family member), what has stood out to you as a positive experience or attribute during your experience working at FSU Panama City/The Collegiate School?
As two-time FSU alumni and student veteran over 20yrs ago, I was not fortunate enough to have access to the level of veteran-related support, resources, and most importantly PEOPLE, that are available to current student veterans across the university today. Veteran Liaisons are now available for student veterans in each academic college and most student support units across FSU. This has a tremendous impact on easing the transition into the college environment for current veterans, while ensuring our commitment to veteran success during and after their degree completion. The FSU Student Veterans Center is committed to providing initiatives that foster a community of past, present and future veterans, raises awareness of veterans issues among campus and local communities, and supports student veterans through graduation and into rewarding careers and graduate-education programs. I am proud to have been a part of that effort.
How do you feel the local Panama City/Bay County community has demonstrated its support for veterans and/or military family members?
With such significant presence of military in the local area, the Bay County and Panama City community has been fully committed to supporting our active and veteran military members and their families. Many end up calling Panama City home after their enlistment and reciprocate that support by giving back to their fellow veterans and families.
