FSU Panama City will hold a community Health and Lifestyle Fair, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 25 in the Holley Academic Center, 4750 Collegiate Drive.

Promoting a healthier Bay County, the event will showcase more than 60 community healthcare organizations and businesses and will feature health information, resources, interventions and services available throughout Bay County. Free screenings will also be provided for blood pressure and diabetes, along with nutrition counseling, personal training counseling, the Bloodmobile and chair massages. In addition, FSU PC Intramural Sports will provide outdoor games to promote the benefits of being active.

Sydney Pellerin, Crime Scene Investigation student and president of the FSU PC chapter of Delta Alpha Pi honor society for students with disabilities (DAP), was looking for a way to draw attention to disability issues and promote physical, mental and emotional health. From there, the event became a collaborative effort between DAP, Public Health students and Teaching Professor Tory Peek, Communication students and Lawrence, the Intramural Sports club and administration.

“We are hoping that the community will take advantage of the valuable free services while they are here,” said Communication Teaching Professor Laurie Lawrence, “but I hope that they leave with information about the many health related resources and services available in our area.”

FSU Health will also be a part of the showcase. In January, FSU Health, along with the St. Joe Company and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, celebrated the construction kickoff of a new 87-acre medical campus in Panama City Beach. They will display renderings of the medical office building and hospital planned for the site.

The event is free and open to the public. For additional information email events@pc.fsu.edu.
