Session 1, from 11-11:45 a.m., will cover information about financial scams and fraud; Session 2, from noon to 12:45 p.m., will be about credit and FICO; and Session 3, from 1-1:45 p.m., will focus on investing and retirement.

“The goal of these workshops is to strengthen financial literacy and empower individuals to make informed decisions about using credit wisely, managing debt effectively, and saving for long-term goals—while avoiding pitfalls such as financial fraud,” said Diana Simpson, CFP, coordinator of the event and faculty member at FSU Panama City.

Each session will include a question/answer portion. Participants may attend any or all sessions. A light lunch will be provided for attendees, courtesy of ChampionsFirst Credit Union. The event will be in the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall, 4750 Collegiate Drive.

“Dr. Calhoun brings a unique blend of insight and humor to his presentations, making complex financial topics both engaging and accessible,” Simpson said. “I always look forward to his workshops—they’re as entertaining as they are educational.”

Calhoun has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia and an MBA from DePaul University. His primary field of research is the economics of education. He has received numerous teaching awards and service excellence awards. He resides in Tallahassee with his family.
