FSU PC MARKS EARLY VETERANS DAY WITH PANEL DISCUSSION, KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Florida State University Panama City will mark Veterans Day early with a celebration featuring nearly 200 guests from Bay District Schools JROTC and military science classes on Monday, Nov. 10.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in the St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall at the Holley Academic Center, 4750 Collegiate Drive in Panama City. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with the program beginning at 11 a.m.

Presentation of the flag will be by the Rutherford High School JROTC led by Dillon Johnson, a retired USAF chief master sergeant. Special guests will include Bay District Schools Superintendent Mark McQueen, a retired U.S. Army major general; USAF Col. Chris Bergtholdt, commander of the 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base; and Patrick Bass, a retired USAF major.

A panel discussion featuring two student veterans and a student military dependent will be moderated by Jim Allen, a retired U.S. Navy veteran who serves as director of Academic Services and campus registrar at FSU Panama City. Irvin Clark, Ed.D., a U.S. Navy veteran and the FSU Panama City associate dean for Student and Strategic Initiatives, will deliver the keynote address.

A free lunch will be provided for all registered participants and guests.
