Florida State University Panama City will hold its sixth annual Student Research Symposium on Thursday, April 17.

"The goal of the research symposium is to get more students more involved in research projects,” said Karen Works, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor in Computer Science at FSU PC. “This event gives our students an opportunity to present their research to a multi-disciplinary audience in a way that is designed to simulate a professional conference presentation.”

This year’s symposium will be from 9 a.m. to noon in the Holley Academic Center, 4750 Collegiate Drive. For more information, visit PC.FSU.EDU/student-research/symposium.

Following the structure set by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement, the FSU PC Student Research Symposium is an annual showcase for students from all majors to present their work to the university community. Student researchers from FSU, area high schools and community colleges are invited to present their work in a poster or creative format. The event is free and open to the public.

Novel research work for presentation can include STEM projects, designs, project proposals, artistic works or compositions, critical reviews and other independent works completed during the academic year. The event is sponsored by Florida Power & Light.

This year’s symposium will include a moment of silence at 11 a.m. CDT in memory of the lives lost on April 17, 2025 during a mass shooting at FSU in Tallahassee.
