Yvonne Traynham, P.E., Ph.D. is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at FSU-Panama City starting in Fall 2019. She has twenty years of previous experience in teaching engineering at the undergraduate and graduate level. Prior to arriving in Panama City, Dr. Traynham was a Professor of Engineering at the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. She has also been an adjunct professor at Webb Institute, and at Manhattan College in New York.

This includes most recently, mechanical testing of materials produced by AM (Additive Manufacturing -3D printing) methods. Her also research includes computational mechanics with FEA (Finite Element Analysis). The majority of her work has been in engineering applications of marine materials, failure analysis, and corrosion studies.
Originally from Pensacola, Dr. Traynham worked for several years on the Gulf Coast as a mechanical engineer. In the 1990’s, she worked as a project engineer in New Orleans, LA. She also worked at the NASA Stennis Space Center facility in Mississippi for five years, as a design engineer for facilities and piping systems. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana and Mississippi.
