FSU PC TO HOST ‘POSITIVITY’ WORKSHOP FOCUSED ON MENTAL HEALTH, SELF-CARE

Tony Simmons

The Illumination Event Series at FSU Panama City will host a Mental Health/Positivity Workshop featuring motivational speaker Taylor Williams on Monday, Nov. 13.

In January 2021, Williams created the Facebook group “Positive Safe Space,” hoping to bring joy and positivity to her friends online. The group eventually led to the development of her social media brand, “Cool To Be Kind Tay,” while Williams’ passion drove her to pursue a career as a motivational speaker.

“This experience has touched my soul in a way that nothing else ever has. The irony lies in the fact that I created the ’Positive Safe Space’ Group while my own mind was far from feeling safe,” said Williams. “At that point in my life, I was battling mental illness to the extent of having suicidal thoughts. I knew I had to take action; I knew I had to make a change.”

The Positivity Workshop will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 13, at FSU PC Holley Academic Center, 4850 Collegiate Drive. This workshop is specifically designed to help participants embrace positivity, cultivate self-care practices and achieve a happier, healthier and more fulfilling personal and professional life. See www.marantacopyco.com/positivity for registration; limited seats are still available.

The event will benefit SPARE (Suicide Prevention Awareness Response and Education).
