FSU Professor of English, Maxine Montgomery to speak at FSU Panama City for Black History Month event
FSU Panama City will celebrate Black History Month with FSU Professor of English, Maxine Montgomery presenting “From Lemons to Lemonade: Beyoncé, Blackgirlmagic, and Lessons from Miss Hatties’ Kitchen.” The free community event will be held 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at FSU Panama City’s Holley Lecture Hall, 4750 Collegiate Drive, Panama City.
Montgomery is the chair of the FSU President's Task Force on Anti-Racism, Equity & Inclusion and the author of “The Apocalypse in African-American Fiction,” “The Fiction of Gloria Naylor: Houses and Spaces of Resistance,” “Race, Culture, and History: New Critical Essays on the Fiction of Toni Morrison” and “The Post-Apocalyptic Black Female Imagination.”
Following the lecture is a live performance by award-winning violinist Samantha Crawford (FSU ’20) and a reading by Gulf Coast State College theatre student Shamiracle Ross.
