As Hurricane Idalia enters the Gulf of Mexico, officials at Florida State University Panama City are preparing for the worst but expecting no disruption to classes. The current forecast tracks for Idalia show it taking an easterly course that should spare the Panhandle.

FSU PC will remain open and fully operational, and classes will meet as scheduled. Classes at the FSU PC Collegiate High School will also meet as scheduled until further notice.

However, due to Hurricane Idalia’s possible impact on the region, Florida State University Tallahassee will close and cancel classes on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023. Essential business operations will continue. Deans and Vice Presidents will provide guidance for their respective colleges and divisions.

FSU Tallahassee housing and dining operations will continue throughout the closure. Additional details on student services and programming will be shared Tuesday morning. The university expects to resume classes and normal business operations on Thursday, Aug. 31. 

University officials continue to closely monitor the developments of this severe weather event and remind individuals not to travel into areas with deteriorating weather conditions.

Florida State University Schools (FSUS), Florida State University’s K-12 Charter School, will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 30.
