STEM Institute offers ‘The Physics of Dance’ science camp

Erin Chaffin

Sixth- through 10th-grade students are invited to join the FSU Panama City STEM Institute’s “The Physics of Dance” science camp July 17-18, 8:30 a.m. - noon.

During the two-day camp, students will move like dancers to understand the science behind dance movements. Instructors Denise Newsome, Bay District Schools high school science teacher, and Sonya Livingston Smith, retired Radio City Rockette, will teach how the human body works within the limits of physics to create extraordinary, graceful movements. This is a science of dance course, not a dance class, and no prior dance experience is required.

The camp costs $25.
