STEM Institute to host third SURGE science expo

FSU Panama City’s STEM Institute will host students from Bay District Schools during the third-annual “SURGE: Students Understanding the Research and Groundwork of Experiments” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 15 in the FSU Panama City Holley Academic Center.

With the assistance of FSU elementary education students, students from Lucille Moore, Oakland Terrace and St. Andrew elementary schools will rotate among activities that reinforce Next-Generation Sunshine State Science Standards and pique their curiosity in STEM-related fields.

Students will learn about STEM careers and interact with STEM professionals from FSU Panama City, Gulf Coast State College, Gulf World and Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division. Sessions include rocketry; Earth, space and landforms; robots and drones; and microscopy.
