Florida State University Panama City’s fall freshman class and their families have been invited to attend a special convocation ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 28, in the St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall in the FSU Panama City Holley Academic Center.  The formal Freshman Convocation marks the entrance into the life and traditions of Florida State University and extends the support of the university community to its newest members.

FSU Panama City Interim Dean Randy Hanna will preside over the ceremony, which will include student speakers Alexandria Hall and Joshua Bittel.  The keynote speaker at this year’s event is electrical engineering professor Jerome Barnes, Ph.D.

“Convocation welcomes freshmen to the Florida State family and the university experience,” Hanna said. “The college experience is one that allows students to explore their interests and reach their potential. It shapes a person into his or her future self and provides a pathway to a successful career.”

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony for freshmen and their guests.
