Florida State University Panama City’s incoming freshman class and their families have been invited to attend a special convocation ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 25, in the St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall in the FSU Panama City Holley Academic Center. The formal First-Year Student Convocation marks the entrance into the life and traditions of Florida State University and extends the support of the university community to its newest members.

FSU Panama City admitted more than 60 first-time-in-college students this academic year, including the largest cohort of local first-year students.

FSU Panama City Dean Randy Hanna will preside over the ceremony, which will include student speaker William Bradley and English faculty speaker Milinda Stephenson, Ph.D.

“Convocation welcomes first-year students to the Florida State family and the university experience,” Hanna said. “The college experience is one that allows students to explore their interests and reach their potential. It shapes a person into his or her future self and provides a pathway to a successful career.”

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony for freshmen and their guests.
