Barbara Robinson Named Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at FSU Panama City

Florida State University Panama City has appointed Barbara Robinson, Ph.D. to the position of Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies effective January 4. Robinson will be the first to serve in the position, which was recently established to accommodate freshman admission beginning fall 2013.

Robinson will oversee undergraduate studies, working closely with campus admissions and advising to implement the new four-year undergraduate program in addition to supporting freshman and sophomore students and student initiatives. Robinson will work directly on all aspects of undergraduate academic affairs, academic support services and student life.

“I am looking forward to being part of the team that welcomes freshman and sophomore students,” said Robinson. “It is an exciting time at FSU Panama City. The campus can now serve a greater number of students by offering lower division courses. My role will be to work with these students, their parents, FSU Panama City faculty and staff, to ensure that their beginning college experience is successful.”

Robinson, who holds a doctorate in humanities (2009) and a master’s in Communication (1995) from FSU, has more than 28 years of experience in student affairs and academic advising. Most recently, Robinson served as the associate dean for student affairs for the College of Communication and Information at Florida State University Tallahassee. She collaborated with the college’s directors, faculty members and academic advisors to resolve student issues related to admissions, academic integrity and administrative policies and procedures.

Robinson also served as the director of the master’s programs at the FSU College of Business, the director of career placement at the FSU College of Law and as program administrator in the Continuing Education Unit of the former Center for Professional Development and Public Service.

“Dr. Robinson comes with experience that will be invaluable as FSU Panama City moves ahead in admitting and enrolling freshman and sophomore level students,” said Ken Shaw, dean, FSU Panama City. “She brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience as well as a strong commitment and loyalty to Florida State University.  We are so glad to have her.”
