This April, 23 area middle and high school girls celebrated the completion of their curriculum in computer science for the future. These young women began their journey with the Girls Who Code (GWC) club six months ago, the second group to go through the program.

The George A. Butchikas Autism Foundation has given more than half a million dollars over the past 15 years, which would welcome them into the next level of donor recognition societies offered by the FSU Foundation and FSU Panama City.

FSU’s Early Child Autism Program, in conjunction with the Emerald Coast Association for Behavior Analysis, will host the Seventh Annual Auction for Autism Awareness on Friday, April 14. All proceeds benefit FSU ECAP’s Butchikas Scholarship Program, which provides funding to families in need of ABA services who do not have insurance or financial means to afford therapy.

The FSU Panama City campus is closed due to weather for Wednesday, 04/05/17. This affects all faculty, staff and students. Campus will reopen as usual on Thursday, 04/06/17 with normal business hours.

As director of catering at Nike World Headquarters, Lillian Walton has a hand in multiple events each day from detailed parties for executives and athletes to large events for thousands of people. “My day is different every day; that’s why I love catering so much,” she said. “There are no days alike; it changes so frequently within this business.”

The Florida State University Panama City Recreation, Tourism and Events special events class will host “Spear It Day” with food, games, local vendors and live music in conjunction with SGC’s Spring Fling from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at the Holley Amphitheater.

FSU Panama City will offer a new bachelor’s degree program in hospitality management and tourism in fall 2017. The program, which is housed under Florida State’s Dedman School of Hospitality, is student focused and guided by best practices and a global perspective.

Students from Bay District Schools joined FSU Panama City on Tuesday for a Black History Month presentation that showcased African dance performances by Global Arts Society’s and stressed the value of education.

FSU Panama City will offer a new bachelor’s degree program in commercial entrepreneurship beginning fall 2017. The program, which is housed under Florida State’s Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship, will prepare tomorrow’s entrepreneurs for the difficult financial, ethical, legal and global competitive challenges of the future.
