FSU PC offers the prerequisite coursework required by many medical schools for admission. With courses in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Psychology, and Public Health, FSU Panama City will prepare you to apply to medical school and we offer many of the other courses required by other pre-professional health programs.
At FSU PC you can work with an academic advisor to learn how medical school pre-requisite courses can complement the curriculum your chosen degree program. Students in our degree programs such as Public Health and Psychology successfully complete their med-school pre-requisites alongside their degree requirements. Preprofessional Health Curriculum
Though there is no universal standard for the courses required for medical school admission. Florida State University offers guidelines for typical courses that students should consider.

Our academic advising staff will work closely with you to help you to select the appropriate courses to reach your medical school goals. The pre-health coursework offered at FSU Panama City can complement one of our many undergraduate degree programs. Many of our pre-health students earn minors in Mathematics or Chemistry. It is important that you work with your academic advisor to understand your degree requirements and how pre-med/pre-professional health coursework fits into your degree curriculum.

There are general medical school requirements, but each individual medical school determines what their specific requirements are for admission. Find the details in our Premedical Manual online and talk with a pre-health advisor about starting the process and getting on your path to med school.

What is the best major for med school?
Any major is acceptable for medical school as long as you satisfy the prerequisite courses. Your major is a chance for you to explore and engage in your interests. Science majors are a typical choice because they include many of the prerequisite courses as requirements for the major. However, you can complete the program prerequisites with any major.

Can I talk to an advisor about my classes so that I make sure I get the right ones?
Yes! You should meet with your major advisor to make sure you’re on track for your degree AND to discuss the path to graduate and/or professional school.
Could I take a class in the community college in summer when I’m back home?
Most professional schools prefer science courses be taken from a four-year college or university. Discuss your choices with your academic advisor as circumstances are different for each student.
Does medical school take pass or fail classes credits?
Medical school prerequisites must typically be taken for a letter grade.

Can my AP science credits be accepted for medical school?
We recommend you reach out to medadmissions@med.fsu.edu for questions regarding transfer credits.
Can I complete all prerequisites for my desired professional health school at FSU Panama City?
The pre-requisite coursework varies by school. It is a good idea to meet with an admissions professional from the school to which you are applying to best understand the requirements for that particular institution. FSU Panama City offers a complement of courses that are usually adequate for medical school admissions, but many other pre-professional career tracks require additional coursework offered only at FSU Tallahassee or Gulf Coast State College. FSU Panama City is adding additional pre-health courses every year. Meet with your admissions professional to understand which courses may be offered during the terms that you are interested in attending.
