Celebrate and mark occasions great and small with a Certificate in Special Events from Florida State University Panama City. Designed for undergraduate or non-degree seeking students with an interest in promotion, coordination and production of events, the program begins spring 2017.

“A Certificate in Special Events from FSU Panama City Events provides students with the latest techniques and skills needed for today’s exciting world of event planning and management,” said program coordinator Rosemary Prince. “This program is an excellent way to gain additional knowledge, whether currently employed in the special events industry or seeking a career change and new employment opportunities.”

A Certificate in Special Events at FSU Panama City prepares students to plan civic and marketing events, expositions and tradeshows, fairs and festivals, meetings and conferences, and retail events for sports and tourism for government agencies, non-profit organizations, private companies, resort and commercial properties, as well as parks and recreation.

Flexible, hands-on learning through a combination of online, face-to-face and hybrid courses sets this program apart from other special event programs. Students build a portfolio of skills and abilities in special event planning through a capstone project.

The Certificate in Special Events requires 12-hours of course work and may be earned as part of the Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Tourism and Events, as a concentration of electives within other majors offered by FSU, or as a standalone certificate for non-degree seeking students. Courses include Introduction to Special Events, Event Operations and Management, Special Events Promotions and Technology for Events.

Applications for the spring semester are due on or before December 1.
