FSU Panama City’s STEM Institute will host area students at the second annual “SURGE: Students Understanding the Research and Groundwork of Experiments” event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Holley Lecture Hall.

Students from Cedar Grove Elementary, St. Andrew School and Oakland Terrace Elementary will rotate through hands-on STEM areas including geometry and origami, revolution vs. rotation, microscopy and mosquitoes, and projects from the Three Rivers Science Fair. Students will work with experts from Gulf Coast State College, FSU Panama City and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to complete specific learning goals. FSU Panama City’s Sam E. and Wally Nole will also be present to engage students in robotics and programming.

This event is held in conjunction with Bay District Schools and the Three Rivers Science Fair to give younger students the opportunity to view middle and high school STEM initiatives.
