STEM Institute to host fifth-graders at science expo

FSU Panama City’s STEM Institute will host area fifth-grade students at “SURGE: Students Understanding the Research and Groundwork of Experiments” on Jan. 29 in the Holley Lecture Hall.

While on campus, students will view projects from the Three Rivers Science Fair, learn about STEM careers and interact with STEM professionals and students. They will be able to see a drone simulation with Embry Riddle, observe remote operated vehicles with NSWCPCD and interact with programmable humanoid robot Sam E. Nole and her student managers. Other special guests will include the Science Brothers, NOAA’s Michelle Duncan, Embry Riddle and Dimension U, a gaming software that teaches math.

Students will rotate among activities and complete specific learning goals, focusing on measurement and data collection.
