Final enrollment for the spring 2012 semester at The Florida State University Panama City was confirmed on January 11, 2012.  The total spring 2012 headcount is 1,242 as compared to 1,150 for spring 2011; this is an 8.0% increase.

Spring 2012 headcount includes 45 students enrolled in FSU Panama City’s two new bachelor degree major tracks in Public Safety and Security, which were offered for the first time in the fall 2011 semester.  The Public Safety and Security program is available on campus or online.

Enrollment in FSU Panama City’s Computer Science degree programs has soared in the past two years, increasing by 124%.  In spring 2010, 59 students were enrolled in Computer Science. For spring 2012, 132 students were pursuing either the Bachelor’s of Science or Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Computer Science. The Computer Science program is offered online as well as on campus.

“When students choose FSU Panama City, they find not only nationally ranked degree programs provided at an exceptional value but also an environment where student success is a campus-wide commitment,” said Ken Shaw, dean at FSU Panama City.  “We are excited to announce enrollment growth for spring 2012.  I believe this is a reflection of the great job our faculty and staff does every day to support and encourage students at FSU Panama City.”

U.S. News and World Report’s 2011 collegiate rankings included Florida State University in the top 50 of the nation’s public universities. FSU was ranked 13th in Forbes Top 100 Best Buy Colleges and 20th in Kiplinger’s Best Values in Public Colleges for 2011. When measuring best buy value, factors such as academic quality, admission rates, retention and the institution’s four-year graduation rate are considered.  Degree programs offered at FSU Panama City provide students the same nationally recognized degree and tuition value offered by the main campus in Tallahassee.
