Tony Simmons

Members of the public can receive a certificate in cybersecurity via noncredit bootcamp-style classes beginning this month at Florida State University Panama City.

The Office of Professional Engagement and Learning (OPEL) at FSU Panama City is offering customized training that leads to industry certifications for cybersecurity. The classes are designed to meet the workforce needs of community partners including military contractors and installations, government agencies and other local businesses.
The first course on the schedule is CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst Bootcamp, which will take place July 17-27 in the CyberHub at FSU Panama City, 4750 Collegiate Drive. Certification testing will be July 28 in the FSU PC Testing Center.

This short course, approved by the U.S. Department of Defense, offers the most up-to-date security analyst certification. The course includes behavioral analytics skills, identifying and combating malware, and advanced persistent threats (APTs).

The exam will certify that the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills required to leverage intelligence and threat detection techniques; analyze and interpret data; identify and address vulnerabilities; suggest preventative measures; and effectively respond to and recover from incidents.

OPEL is also offering a Security-Plus Bootcamp on Aug. 4-15 and Dec. 1-12. For more details on these camps, or to sign up for them, visit FSUOPEL.catalog,instructure.com.
