FSU Panama City will compete in the 2016 NIRSA National Flag Football tournament Jan. 6-8, 2017, at Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola. Teams from colleges and universities, such as University of Central Florida, Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, and Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, are scheduled to play in the tournament.

The event will be a three- or four-team pool play tournament with the top two teams out of each pool advancing to a single elimination playoff. Each team will play at least two games.

FSU Panama City formed its flag football team in fall 2016 with Student Government Council advisor Mike Smith coaching.

“Team sports, such as flag football, are essential to a thriving campus life for students,” Dean Randy Hanna said. “This is just the beginning of sports for Florida State University Panama City.”
