FSU PANAMA CITY HOSTS PRESENTATION BY AUTHOR JUDSON STONE
Author Judson I. Stone has accomplished a great deal in his life, but the accomplishments he wants to share are those of the men who came before him—men who are the focus of his literary efforts.
Florida State University Panama City will host Stone for a presentation from 4-5 p.m. on Aug. 5, in the Holley Academic Center’s lecture hall. Stone will discuss the lessons of his books, “A Last Chapter of the Greatest Generation” and “A Modest but Crucial Hero,” as well as an upcoming biography of his great uncle’s experiences in World War I.

Stone’s work revolves around the real-life experiences of his forefathers. His first book, “A Last Chapter of the Greatest Generation,” follows the experiences of his father, Col. Frederic A. Stone, in World War II and his career as a doctor. His second book, “A Modest but Crucial Hero,” centers on the Rev. George E. Stone, a great uncle who was a missionary to Oman in 1899. His next book will be a biography of another great uncle, Elmore B. Stone, and will include a transcription of Elmore’s war diary.

Self-described as a quiet child who only found his voice when he was called to preach, Stone served as a pastor in Maine for 26 years, corporate chaplain for 12 years, and sports chaplain with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a member of the local writing group Destin Word Weavers and volunteers at the Walton Correctional Institution working with men’s groups.
Stone says that he “doesn’t claim any magic formula, except to listen well and to ask thought-provoking questions to open up clarity, increase confidence, and stimulate deeper contemplation about life, self, and faith.”
The event at FSU Panama City is free to the public. Stone will have copies of his books available for purchase. For more information or to register for the event, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-rev-dr-judson-stone-author-speaker-minister-tickets-1409431320019?aff=fbevent.
