Florida State University Panama City Hosts Educator Conference for STEM

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the United States. With our nation needing additional STEM professionals, the PLTW curriculum is geared toward producing students who are fully prepared to access a STEM career. PLTW is lauded by national leaders for its ability to provide challenging and relevant curriculum that builds STEM professionals.

As a PLTW training institution, FSU Panama City will host the PLTW Conference “A Door to the Future” on Friday, January 18th from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm in the Holley Academic Center Lectureship Hall. Educators from across the region will spend the day renewing their commitment to PLTW success while hearing from area leaders regarding the continued need for STEM and the record of success established by PLTW.
Dr. Jimmie Davis, president of STEMflorida will speak on the need for STEM while Captain Thomas Gormley from Tyndall Air Force Base will close the day with the military focus on STEM and a call to action for educators.
In addition, educators will discuss recruitment, industry certification, funding and building success. These discussions will be facilitated by local school principals, Florida Department of Education and WorkForce Board experts.

As the Florida Engineering Affiliate for Project Lead the Way, FSU Panama City is committed to providing educators from around the state with opportunities to train on PLTW courses and to extend this opportunity to schools across Florida,” said Affiliate Director Ginger Littleton.
