Florida State University Panama City 2013 Summer Scuba Lab

The Advanced Science Diving Program at Florida State University Panama City is offering a Summer SCUBA Lab for high school students. The two week basic SCUBA certification and marine science course will take place June 17-21 and June 24-28 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon and will be taught by FSU Panama City Faculty. To qualify, student must be 15 years old by May 31, 2013 and be able to pass a swim test.

Summer SCUBA Lab will introduce students to the world of marine science through a hands-on curriculum that combines biological, physical and chemical oceanography with field and classroom work. Students will develop a deeper understanding of the marine environment and advanced marine technology used in underwater exploration.
The application for this program may be found at the FSU STEM Institute website at steminstitute.org. A $100 application fee is required to reserve space in the class with total payment required prior to the start of class. The cost of the class is $440.00 which includes instruction, equipment use, IANTD manual, dive log and certification card. Students are required to bring their own mask, snorkel, fins, booties and dive knife.
