Engineering students to present Over-band Magnetic Separator

Electrical engineering students from FSU Panama City will present their senior design project, an Over-band Magnetic Separator (OMS), at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the Holley Academic Center, Room B211.

OMS will separate metal pieces from electronic scrap (pulverized electronic equipment) so the metal can be recycled. A lower conveyor brings the scrap under the influence of an electromagnet, and an upper conveyor pushes the drawn metal into a separate container.

The OMS will be demonstrated after the presentation in the McCoy Electrical Engineering Senior Design Lab.
