Associate dean named for FSU Panama City and College of Applied Studies

FSU Panama City has appointed business administration faculty member Gary Bliss as its new associate dean.
“I am so pleased to have Dr. Bliss assume the duties as associate dean of our campus,” Interim Dean Steve Leach said. “Dr. Bliss has spearheaded our business programs for the past 12 years and has established a strong relationship with faculty, staff and students. I am confident that these relationships will continue in his new position.”
Bliss, who has been a faculty member since 2002, will continue to teach while he transitions into his new role.
“I am honored, excited and look forward to the challenge of the position as associate dean of FSU Panama City and the College of Applied Studies,” he said. “While teaching has always been rewarding to me, my new role as associate dean will give me the opportunity to work for the students and faculty at FSU Panama City in a ‘big picture’ way.”
Bliss coordinates both the Business Administration and Accounting programs for the Panama City campus. He has served as chairman of the FSU Panama City merit and promotion committee since 2011 and as a curriculum committee member for the College of Applied Studies since 2010.
In addition, he has participated in FSU’s International Program, teaching undergraduate business courses in Valencia, Spain for the past three summers.
Bliss said he plans to enhance the campus’s environment of critical thinking, entrepreneurship and team building among students and faculty across academic programs.
“The College of Applied Studies provides an exciting opportunity for students and faculty to learn and teach a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise in an impactful way,” Bliss said.
“FSU Panama City has a rich history of success,” Bliss said. “I am thrilled to have the privilege of helping the campus continue in that direction.”
