Robert Cvornyek is an assistant teaching professor at Florida State University Panama City and former chair of the History Department at Rhode Island College where he specializes in sport history. He received his Ph.D. in History from Columbia University. He has written extensively on the intersection of race, sports, and cultural expression and, recently, edited the autobiography of baseball Hall-of-Famer Effa Manley. He is currently working on a documentary film that explores the “money game” in New England African American baseball. Robert also co-directs the program “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing: Baseball, Jazz, and Black Cultural Expression.”
