Food For Thought offers food, work attire

Erica Martin

FSU Panama City has unveiled Food For Thought, a food pantry and clothing closet for students, faculty and staff.

The service will be available by appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. To schedule a visit, contact counselor Nancy Mills at (850) 770-2174 or visit her office in Barron 218. Participants also can contact Helen Johnson at (850) 770-2158 or Dana Smith at (850) 770-2266.

Participants must show their current FSU ID and sign a waiver. Due to limited resources, participants can take only one bag of food at a time but may visit the food pantry as often as necessary.

“We want everyone in our Seminole community to succeed,” Dean Randy Hanna said. “Through Food For Thought, we will help limit food insecurity and clothing obstacles that many people face nationwide.”

Donations of non-perishable foods and work attire are much appreciated. Food needs include canned foods, dried beans, cereal, cereal bars, crackers, pre-packaged fruit, jelly, microwavable macaroni and cheese, nuts, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter and rice.

Clothing should be work attire appropriate for interviews, including dress shirts, dress pants, undershirts, ties, blouses, suits, dresses and skirts. All donated clothing should be clean, wrinkle-free and on hangers.

Donation drop-off bins are available throughout campus in the following locations:

  • Holley Academic Center by the Library
  • Holley Academic Center east doors
  • Barron Commons
  • Student Affairs Office (Barron 210)
  • SGC Office (Barron 309)
