Social Work (MSW) program

Program Description

The Master of Social Work degree program at FSU Panama City is designed to enable students to develop professional practice competence by providing a curriculum that includes social work practice, social policy, knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, research knowledge and experience, and field education. The program provides quality preparation and experience for advanced practitioners who will work with diverse client systems and problems.

The Advanced Standing MSW Program offered at FSU Panama City is a full-time, on-campus option for students who already have a BSW from a CSWE-accredited college. The application deadline is May 1 for starting fall semester. Please contact socialwork@pc.fsu.edu if you need more information.

Admission Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A GPA of at least 3.0 in upper-division courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Have a liberal arts foundation, demonstrated by a liberal arts degree or 36 hours of course work in the following curriculum areas: 
    • Area I: Mathematics (6 hours) 
    • Area II: English (6 hours) 
    • Area III: History/ Social Sciences (6-12 hours) 
    • Area IV: Humanities/ Fine Arts (5-11 hours) 
    • Area V: Natural Science (7 hours) 
  • Official GRE scores (waived for fall 2021 and fall 2022)
  • Apply online and pay $30 application fee online.

    Program Requirements

    The degree is awarded upon completion of a minimum of 39 semester hours, including 27 hours of on-campus instruction and 12 hours of field instruction.

    Florida State University expects graduate students to maintain a 3.0 GPA in course work and a grader of “S” in each field instruction course.
