Veterans Study Room
Florida State University is committed to military and veteran support and success through initiatives that ease the transition from military service to campus life, foster a community of past, present and future veterans, raise awareness of veterans issues among campus and local communities, and support student veterans through graduation and into rewarding careers and graduate-education programs. At FSU Panama City we are honored to provide a dedicated space for studying and small group meetings.
Military and veteran students at FSU Panama City are able to find quiet study time in the James and Cameron Skinner Study Room for Veterans in the Holley Academic Center, room A212.
Visit Military & Veteran Benefits for more information about benefits.
This room has been dedicated by Floyd and Gloria Skinner, in memory of Floyd’s brother PFC James Allen Skinner, who died on August 15, 1966 from injuries incurred while serving in Vietnam, and in honor of Floyd and Gloria’s son, 2nd Lieutenant Cameron Floyd Skinner, who served in Iraq in 2003 and received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.
Jim and Sandy Dafoe, community members and active on the FSU Veterans Advancement Board, have funded the addition of the Veterans Alliance arrowhead, mounted prominently on the wall of the study room. This symbol demonstrates Florida State University’s campus-wide commitment to become a national beacon of veteran support and success.
Military and veterans students may also access related programs at the Student Veterans Center in Tallahassee.
Marcie Davis, Veteran Benefits Enrollment Officer at FSU Panama City, is happy to assist veterans throughout their academic career. “With over 17 years representing our Veteran population at FSU Panama City, it is my pleasure to assist any veteran I can. I take pride in the students I assist, helping our veterans and their dependents get the education benefits they so much deserve and worked hard to obtain.”
Veteran students interested in utilizing this room may contact Marcie at (850) 770-2173 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
