Mr. Lafferty has degrees in Culinary Arts and Foodservice Management from Johnson and Wales University, a master’s degree in Hospitality Management from the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism at Florida International University and is currently completing his doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the Rossier School of Education, at the University of Southern California. He has over 20 years of experience in foodservice, restaurants, hotels, and resorts, in both operations and food and beverage. He has worked at many award-winning establishments in South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida, including Kiawah Island Resort and Charleston Place Hotel, as well as with Food Network personalities and James Beard award-winning chefs. Previous to this position, he was Program Director for Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts programs at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, Culinard of Virginia College, and as a Clinical Instructor of Hospitality at the University of Mississippi. Research interests include: Advanced Leadership Training Through the Use of Learning Management Systems; Annual Events and Their Impact on Local Tourism, Lodging and Restaurants; and Sustainability in the Hospitality Industry.
