SGC discusses Spring Fling

FSU Panama City’s Student Government Council had its eye on special events during the second meeting of the semester on Jan. 21.

SGC’s Special Events Committee, which is chaired by Mercedes Ardley, has begun planning this semester’s Spring Fling, brainstorming activities and discussing possible event dates.

Spring Fling typically is a week of activities to help students unwind before final exams. Previous events have included cookouts, games, parties and open mic nights.

Through student activities, the Special Events Committee hopes to provide FSU Panama City students with a more well-rounded university experience. Events offer a venue for the Seminole community to have fun, meet new people and make friends, council members said.

“This committee plans some of the biggest events that not only bring students together but brings our faculty, staff and community together to celebrate,” Ardley said.

The Special Events Committee also plans annual student events, such as Homecoming, Summer Bash and the graduation banquet. All students are welcome to share ideas and offer event support during committee meetings at 12:30 p.m. Mondays in the Barron Commons.

SGC will meet again at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in the SGC Conference Room, Barron 305.
