Volleyball tournament benefits youth camp, student activities

Erica Martin

The FSU Panama City Student vs. Faculty vs. Staff vs. Alumni Volleyball Tournament is giving back this year. The campus tradition, which this year will take place 1-4 p.m. July 16 at the FSU Panama City volleyball court, will benefit the Miracle League, the Emerald Coast Rotary and FSU Panama City student activities.

There is no fee to play in the tournament, but donations and sponsorships are appreciated.

The tournament goal is to raise $1,600 to send a physically challenged child to the Rotary Youth Camp. Any additional proceeds will be split 75 percent for the camp and 25 percent for volleyball equipment for FSU Panama City students.

The event will be managed by Student Activities Coordinator Casey Lathem and Enrollment Officer Glenda Buckland, who added the fundraiser as part of a practicum course for the FSU Panama City graduate certificate in event management.

To register as a player or for sponsorship information, call Buckland at 770-2164 or email gbuckland@pc.fsu.edu by July 6.
